Caledonia’s IMAX and Zoo Expedition
On Thursday May 2, Caledonia students, chaperones, and teachers went to the IMAX theater in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. We viewed in 3-D the documentary Galapagos, where we explored the frozen lava lands and the deep blue sea. It appeared that we could touch the animals and explore with the nature biologist.
Our fieldtrip had a rather rocky beginning. When we arrived at the IMAX theater, the doors were open - so we walked in. Nobody, absolutely nobody, was in the empty building. Mr. Graf called the police to find out why the building was unlocked and empty. The Fitchburg Police Department sent officers to investigate. Eventually, an employee showed up and was able to help us follow through with our movie plans. Afterwards, we went to Vilas Park Zoo where we ate our lunches and went off to explore the domestic and exotic animals. We boarded the bus at 1:45 and headed back to school. We had a fun time and were excited to tell our families about the day.

Our Last Year and Caledonia Scores High
By Chloe
This is the last year of Caledonia Elementary School. This school has been going on for over 50 years! Some kids’ parents and grandparents used to go here!
We will miss so many things! Here are just a few things that we will miss most of all: the teachers, having a small school, nice classmates, getting to be in combination classrooms, the snacks, and the friends. We are all like one big family. We will miss the teachers because they make learning fun and they get to know you and know what you need to become a stronger student. We’ll miss the small school because we can’t get lost and you get to know everyone and they become your friends.
So why are they closing Caledonia? No one really knows. Yes, there is a money problem, but why close a school with the second highest score in the state? (according to the Department of Instruction - see details below) I wish Caledonia could stay open. I think everyone wishes it would. I hope everyone likes their new school, wherever they end up, and always have epic memories of Caledonia!
WE LOVE CALEDONIA!!!
